Agnes Olszewska

I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (#3922).

I am also a Registered Play Therapist with The Association for Play Therapy (APT). I obtained my Masters (M.Ed.) in Counselling Psychology at the University of Alberta.

Over the past decade, I have provided counselling/ therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including primary health care, schools, community mental health, and private practice. I am most passionate about working with anxiety-related issues, OCD, and PTSD/trauma. I also have experience with emotional and behavioral dysregulation, depression, grief and loss, attachment, and difficulties with self-esteem.

I work from a client-centered perspective and integrate modalities such as Theraplay, Circle of Security Parenting (COS), play therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I also have extensive training in Eye Movement and Desensitization therapy (EMDR), including Attachment-focused EMDR. I am also an EMDR Child Sandtray Specialist. Often, I work in collaboration with parents to address child parent relationship concerns. I incorporate Emotion-Focused Family Therapy techniques to support this goal.

I am also passionate about working with couples. In order to provide the most effective counselling services, I have completed training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Level II Gottman Method Couples Therapy. These approaches have been shown to assist couples in creating long lasting and meaningful connections with one another.
