Agnes Olszewska

M.Ed., RPT

Registered Psychologist and Registered Play Therapist

Over the past twelve years, I have provided therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including primary healthcare, schools, community mental health organizations, hospitals, and the University of Alberta. I also worked at the Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, supporting children and youth who have experienced abuse and maltreatment in collaboration with the Edmonton Police Service and the RCMP. I am most passionate about working with anxiety-related issues, including panic, phobias, social anxiety, OCD, trauma, and PTSD. I also have experience with ADHD, selective mutism, attachment issues, depression, emotional and behavioural dysregulation, grief and loss, parenting skills, self-esteem, self-harm, body-focused repetitive behaviour’s (hair pulling and skin picking), and navigating separation/divorce concerns.

I work from a client-centered perspective and integrate modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Somatic Experiencing, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I also have extensive training in Eye Movement and Desensitization therapy (EMDR). I am an EMDR Child Specialist trained to work with various levels of trauma, including simple, complex, and dissociative disorders. I am also trained in the EMDR Sandtray protocol, as well as the EMDR- Parent-Child & Attachment Specialist Protocol. I am a Circle of Security® facilitator and incorporate Emotion-Focused Family Therapy skills to support parents and caregivers.

I am also passionate about working with couples. In order to provide the most effective counselling services, I have completed training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Level II Gottman Method Couples Therapy. These approaches have been shown to assist couples in creating long-lasting and meaningful connections with one another.

You have taken a brave step to find support and I hope I can be a good fit wherever you are on your journey. If you’re ready to get started, I always offer a 15-min consultation. My style of counselling is highly relational, collaborative, down to earth, and non-judgmental.
