Adult ADHD Assesments
Gain understanding and a clear path forward.
Understand Your Mind. Take Control of Your Life.
Navigating life’s demands can feel too much. You know what needs to get done, but it’s difficult to start and complete tasks, stay organized, multi-task, and manage your time. You end up overstimulated and overwhelmed by so many responsibilities. Unraveling the complexities of your unique strengths and challenges as an adult can feel daunting and unclear, leaving you searching for answers. More than anything, you want practical solutions to help you thrive in all areas of your life.
You’re not alone — and it might not just be “stress” or a “busy mind.” Adult ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a real, diagnosable condition that can impact work, relationships, and daily functioning. The good news? There’s a path forward — and it starts with a comprehensive assessment.
We can help you figure it out.
Why Consider an ADHD Assessment?
Many adults go undiagnosed for years, often blaming themselves for difficulties that have a neurobiological basis. An assessment can help you:
- Understand your cognitive and behavioral patterns
- Identify the presence of ADHD or other conditions with similar symptoms (like anxiety or depression)
- Gain clarity and validation about your experience
- Access personalized treatment or support options
What is an Adult ADHD Assessment?
ADHD should not be diagnosed based on a single test or checklist. Instead, a combination of these methods should be used to form a comprehensive understanding of your unique behaviours and challenges, to ensure an accurate and complete diagnosis.
Our process includes the following:
Initial Consultation: We offer a confidential 10-minute phone consultation to briefly explore your concerns and to discuss the assessment process with you.
Clinical Interview: During the interview, we’ll engage in a more detailed conversation with you about your daily experiences, work performance, academic history, relationships, emotional health, and personal history. This in-depth discussion helps us gain insight into how you function across different areas of your life and identifies patterns that may align with ADHD or other conditions.
Rating Scales and Questionnaires: These standardized measures ask about the frequency and severity of a wide range of behaviours associated with ADHD. They are helpful in providing a structured way to collect information about behaviours from different settings and compare your behaviour to that of others (with and without ADHD).
Psychological and Educational Testing: These tests evaluate your cognitive abilities, memory, attention, and cognitive processing. They can help identify whether you have any specific learning difficulties that may be contributing to your struggles, or if your cognitive profile aligns with what is often seen in individuals with ADHD.
Physical Examination: Sometimes, we will recommend a physical examination or further medical testing to rule out any physical conditions that could be causing or contributing to your symptoms. For instance, sleep disorders, hearing or vision problems, and certain neurological conditions can sometimes mimic ADHD symptoms. In these cases, we refer you to your doctor to conduct the examination.
Detailed Report: We provide you with a comprehensive written report that summarizes your results. This report includes a list of practical recommendations and strategies tailored to your unique strengths and needs.
Feedback Session: A follow-up meeting is completed where we walk you through the results and provide guidance on next steps. A detailed list of strategies is included and are tailored to your unique strengths and needs.
